Vision Insurance

While your health insurance will typically cover eye injuries and emergencies, individual vision plans are designed to cover the gaps left behind and save you money.

Eye exams are part of the deal and help detect early signs of any potential health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, macular degeneration, and retinopathy.

We partnered with EyeMed and VSP Vision to offer the most popular vision plans outside of the Marketplace. Available online 24/7. Not all plans are available in all states. Check your ZIP.

EyeMed Vision

EyeMed starts at $5 a month with three popular plans: Healthy, Bold & Bright to fit your budget with network providers throughout the country.

As a member, you save on frames, lenses or contacts at many popular eyewear stores like LensCrafters, Target Optical and Glasses.com.

You can visit any doctor you like, but in-network is where you will see the true savings.

VSP Vision

VSP Vision is one of the largest providers of vision plans in the workplace, but also offers supplemental plans to individuals & families with low monthly payments and easy online enrollment!

With over 80 million members in America alone, VSP is a very popular and affordable solution for families, self-employed, seniors, veterans and Medicare beneficiaries.

Is Vision Insurance Worth It?

Vision insurance covers eye care costs that health insurance plans do not. While your health insurance will typically cover eye injuries or emergencies, individual vision insurance serves a different purpose.

Individual (or supplemental) vision insurance is designed to fill gaps in coverage and save you money in several ways.

Most vision plans include routine eye exams, savings and allowances on prescription eyeglasses, and contact lenses. Asking if vision insurance is worth it comes down to simple math and comparing the cost and benefits of a plan.

If the cost of an eye exam is $50-$250 and a new pair of glasses with frames and lenses runs $300, then a $20 a month vision plan is probably worth it.

What Is LASIK?

LASIK, or Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, is a type of refractive surgery that uses a laser to reshape the cornea and improve vision. It’s a popular procedure for correcting common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

During the procedure, a high-powered laser is used to remove a small amount of tissue from the cornea, allowing light to focus properly on the retina.

The result is clearer vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Does Vision Insurance Cover LASIK?

The cost of LASIK will be based on several factors like which surgeon you chose and the technology recommended, but in general costs average about $2,000 per eye and up to $4,000 in some cases.

Before undergoing LASIK surgery, a comprehensive eye exam is necessary to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for the procedure.

During the exam, your eyes will be measured to assess your health and any potential risks. It’s also important to address any other health concerns during the initial consultation to ensure the best possible outcome.

EyeMed and VSP Vision members get an average of 15% off regular pricing for LASIK procedures! As a member, you can search for network specialists near you to schedule a consultation and apply for your benefit.
